Journeying through Mommyhood one moment at a time!

Sunday Lately ~ Week 117

Sunday Lately  is a weekly linkup hosted by the Blogger Tribe, which is led by the powerhouse duo Katy (Wild and Wanderful) & Angelica (Gardening in High Heels).  We e-hangout every Sunday, sharing a small glimpse into the past week of life in our own worlds. We’d love if you could join us!

This week’s themes: Basking, Discovering, Tinkering, Feeling, Switching

Basking in Little Man(my 6-week-old baby boy)’s smile. The past two weeks Little Man has started smiling more and more. Seeing him smiling at me makes this Mommy feel like she is doing something right.

Discovering so many blessings. God has blessed me with so much, a wonderful husband, family, church family, friends, a great house, and now an adorable baby boy. Since Little Man’s birth all of the people I’ve been blessed with have become even more special to me. I’ve been amazed at the amount of clothes and other gifts people have given us, plus all of the offers to help and the genuine love and support we’ve received since Little Man cam into our lives. We have such an awesome God who has blessed me beyond my wildest imagination, not just with a baby but also with the resources (people and otherwise) to succeed as parents.

Tinkering with my garden plan for this year. I am sincerely hoping that this summer(since I am not pregnant) I will be able to put more time and energy into my garden and grow enough produce to freeze some and to be able to make homemade baby food for Little Man. So far I’m thinking peas, peppers, green beans, tomatoes, cucumber, zucchini, and potatoes.  I’ve realized that on average we use about 5lb of potatoes every week(Hubby really likes them), so I’m searching through different methods of growing them myself instead of constantly buying them. If you have any suggestions I would love for you to leave them in the comments below or email me (rachel@glitterandenginegrease.com).

Feeling a bit overwhelmed some days. I love Mommyhood but it is a bit overwhelming. Trying to juggle Little Man, dishes, and laundry has been quite the adventure. I’ve found that my best plan of action is to get as much done during Little Man’s midmorning/afternoon nap (the only one he takes without being held) as I possibly can. Most days I get at least dishes or laundry done and on the occasional good nap day I get both done. Never thought the day would come that I was happy to get either laundry or dishes done but I wouldn’t trade Mommyhood for any amount of free time to get housework done.

Switching gears from full-time stay-at-home mommy to part-time working mommy. Two weeks after my 4 week check up and 2 days after Little Man turned 6 weeks old, as planned, I returned to work last week. I never imagined how hard leaving him and going to work would be. I am so very grateful that my super awesome Mama and wonderful grandmother are willing to watch Little Man for me while I have to be away from him…makes it easier…well at least a little bit. The Good Lord has also blessed us with Hubby’s income, which is enough that I was able to cut the amount of days I work in half. In the long run our goal is for me to be able to stay at home with Little Man full-time, but for the time being I’m back to work.
